Nationalism is in every way above regionalism. nation is itself made up of regions and when the combined power always turns up to be more effective in every respect than why create differences by dividing countries into different regions...regions are made just for the connivance of the ruling government and proper functioning of the nation. at the end of the day its individuals right to live his own life in whichever region he wants to live in and what ever custom he wants to follow.
Unfortunately one person also lost his life till now. It’s true that some of the jobs and other benefits deserved by the locals are going to non-locals. But these kind of situations are to be handled in a more simple, appropriate and non-violent manner rather making it chaotic and full of violence. Whenever an Indian visits any foreign country, the people there view him as an Indian not as Hyderabadi, Bihari, Bengali etc. When a foreigner knows us as an Indian then why can’t our own citizens respect that?
Is it really that tough?? Well, I don’t think so….I would like each and every person of my country to be an Indian first and also want them to remain Indians always till their last breath on earth.
Raj Thackeray is misusing his power by feeding common man with doses of casteism and regionalism. On one hand we talk about democracy and on the other these leaders r making their own rules. As an Indian we can live and flourish anywhere in India without blessings of local political leaders. Are they going to say that since attack was on Jammu & Kashmir, only soldiers from that region need to fight or Tamil soldiers against LTTE?
If people start leaving Mumbai n move to their native places then Mumbai will be left with nothing and this is a fact. What will happen if Business tycoons and Celebrities leave Mumbai and depart to their own states what will be Mumbai special for ?
All elites and leaders should come together and start working towards the betterment of humans rather than the betterment of state/society/region only. Thackeray, in the name of state security, ended up creating havoc in Mumbai and damaging public property which resulted in brutal human insecurity in his very own state. Its no point breaking the country apart into fragments. Now its high time that we realize the importance of “ Unity in diversity”.
