snakeThis is the considered to be smallest snake is the world.

Scientifically knows as ramphotyphlops braminus

Its just 4 to 6 inches in length and can hide easily under the flower pot and that’s why sometime is called the flower pot snake. Its not bigger  than any earthworm and that’s why many people sometime get confused  it with earthworm or will say it a earthworm.

Appearance:

It can be detected on the basis of its color. Its color is  shiny dark brown. So whenever u see any earthworm like creature with shiny dark brown color it’s the Brahminy blind snake. If you will have a close look on its body you will not see the ring like structure which is found in an earthworm body.

You can also recognize it by its motion. Its move like other snakes not like earthworm, which moves like stretching and contracting its body. Third thing is u can also see its forked tongue with which its senses the surrounding.

The small, dot-like eyes are covered by translucent scales. There is a tiny spur at the tip of the tail. The scales of this snake are smooth and shiny.

The Brahminy Blind Snake originally lived in southeastern Asia. With expansion of worldwide markets, sellers of greenhouse materials (live plants, potting stuff, packing substances) have carried it to other tropical.

They are also found in may parts of America too.

One thing we find very interesting that in their world only females are found. They do not need males  for reproduction. The egg gets develop and they divide without sperm.

They live on termite and other soft body insects.
